About Us

Ballygrove Stud is a boutique thoroughbred agistment farm located in Blandford, just 30 kilometres north of Scone NSW – Australia’s Horse Capital. We offer high level, professional care of horses on agistment, along with a range of services such as foaling down, weaning, breaking, pre-training and sale preparation.

Ballygrove Stud was formed in 2016 after the 289 acre property was purchased by Rob & Kim Watson and their family.

In the past 12 months, the property has undergone extensive improvements to pasture and horse safe fencing of numerous broodmare and spelling paddocks. As a result, Ballygrove is now the ideal home for rearing, spelling and agisting your valuable thoroughbreds.

A beautiful property, Ballygrove enjoys double frontage to Pages River and Scotts Creek with an excellent balance of alluvial River flats and basalt slopes. New plantings and tree lined lane ways provide pretty highlights and practical shade and shelter for our four legged guests.

Ballygrove is conveniently located close to some of the Upper Hunters most prestigious thoroughbred Studs – Emirates Park, Arrowfield and Coolmore to name a few. This enables easily arranged ‘walk-ons’ for your mares with Stallions of world-class standards reducing travel time and stress on your mare.

Farm Manager

Rob Watson is Owner and Hands on Manager of Ballygrove Stud. Rob has a wealth of experience working with horses and farming the land. Rob brings a sound knowledge of breeding quality horses to Ballygrove.

His passion for not only the land but also his family saw Rob & his wife Kim re-locate from their Property on the mid north coast of NSW to the Hunter Valley last year where they now have an exciting future in thoroughbred breeding and management with Ballygrove.

Rob & Kim welcome visitors so feel free to make a time to drop in and inspect the farm.

Ballygrove Stud is designed to specifically cater for Thoroughbred agistment and breeding. We offer 24/7, year round service and owners can rest assured that their horse will be given only the best possible supervision and care.

Racehorses / Spellers

Premium quality horse feed along with an extensive pasture improvement program in place.
Existing relationships with well renowned Equine Veterinarians, Farriers, Chiropractors & Equine Dentists although clients are welcome to use their professional of choice if preferred.
Individual and group paddocks are available with smaller paddocks separated by lane ways that are ideal for spelling colts. There is also two fully rubber lined Stallion/ Colt Stables.
Located just 10 minutes off the New England Highway, Ballygrove welcomes owners to drop in and visit their horse.
